Platelet-rich fibrin therapy, related to PRP, has traditionally been applied in surgical procedures to speed up the body’s natural healing process and treat wound healing. However, thanks to recent technological evolutions, the cosmetics industry can now employ it to treat issues such as a loss of volume, sagging skin, fine lines, hair loss and other effects associated with aging.
Compared to Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, Platelet-rich Fibrin therapy (PRF) is significantly less complicated and 100% natural. Not only does PRF contain more platelets per mcL, it also has leukocytes (WBC) & mesenchymal stem cell!
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) has anticoagulants and other additives in the collection tube. It does not contain WBC’s or mesenchymal stem cells. Even though a blood sample is still required for PRF, the centrifugation process only consists of one step. When everything is done, your unique serum will be placed in a syringe without any additives or anticoagulants. It’s 100% natural.

Platelet rich fibrin (PRF) is the second generation version of Platelet rich plasma (PRP). Like PRP, not only does it have platelets and plasma, but it also includes the entire fibrin matrix, involving WBCs and some Mesenchymal stem cells. Compared to PRP, the PRF fibrin matrix contributes to better wound healing, increased collagen production and improved elasticity. PRF becomes a gel after 15-20 minutes of being isolated and immediately upon injection to the face or scalp. This gelation allows the fibrin matrix to remain intact with all its components and results in an extended period of rejuvenation.
Before you have any treatments, an experienced provider will first examine your skin concerns and decide if platelet-rich fibrin therapy is the right course of action for you based on their findings. PRF comes from the blood that we collect from you.
1. Blood will be drawn from your arm the same as it would for a standard blood test.
2. The sample is then positioned in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich fraction (PRF) from the remaining blood components.
3.When the separation process is finished, the PRF is removed from the vial and placed into a syringe for further processing.
4.Lastly, you will receive it by having an injection performed directly on your skin for facial rejuvenation or on your scalp for hair restoration.
Since PRF only requires a few injections, treatment can be quickly scheduled to fit in with even the busiest schedules. Following treatment, you may notice some redness, mild irritation, and swelling in the affected area. This is a good sign that your skin is trying to heal itself, and the soreness should fade within a few hours to a few days.
Responses to cosmetic procedures can vary, but in most cases, the patient will require two or three sessions before noticing a significant difference. In addition, there is no limit to the number of treatments you can receive; consequently, if you find that PRF is effective for you, incorporating it into your anti-aging routine is something you can do.
PRF improves your skin’s thickness, texture, and firmness and provides a lift similar to dermal fillers. Often times PRF is used in combination with dermal fillers.
Dermatologists are generally optimistic about PRF and its potential benefits. Injections of PRF have been shown to have beneficial healing effects by several medical professionals. Because the platelet-rich fibrin treatment is a byproduct of your own blood, there is no possibility that the disease will be handed on to another person.
